The word jewelry comes from the word jewel, or "jouel" , or probably the latin word "jocale", meaning plaything. The history of jewelry probably dates back to about 100,000-years, as is evidenced by an archaeological discovery of beads made from Nassarius shells.
Whilst traditional jewelry is made from precious metals or stones, the modern form also includes a metamorphosed form, called the “Art Jewelry”, where design and creativity is prized above material value. Other forms of modern jewelry are “costume jewelry”, and wire sculpture.
